Was "The Shining" ever released on Super 8, either as a digest or full feature?

I seriously doubt it Christian.

Hey- thats funny that you started this thread, because reading it, and looking at your picture, you look just like Jack Nicholson when he said..."Here's JOHNNY!"

[Eek!]

James.

Haha, well, I won't be hitting down your doors in the first weeks ;-)

Too bad it's not on Super8! What about 16mm?

Wouldn't mind getting a print made!

Seems an ultra-scarce film. I don't think I have even heard of a trailer on S8 (but wouldn't rule it out) and I can't even recall a 16mm print ever coming up.

All or most of Kubrick's films are out there on 16mm, including The Seafarers (lost once for many years, now at the Library of Congress), an early color documentary --I only saw it once on VHS.

If you find The Shining, it will be on Eastman, some were made for television so expect fade and lines. If any surface that have better color, at the moment these are hidden away in top collectors shelves with a $2000 price tag.

Eyes Wide Shut may also be out there, every year since it's release it becomes one of my favorite of his films.

Christian ...

I would check with Italian super 8 collectors, as titles that were never released anywhere else, DID make it onto super 8 over there.

I've never seen one, but I doubt that this film was ever released as a Supe 8 optical sound feature, as they would have had to edit it so severely fr the airlines, that it would be unwatchable.

Yeah, I don't see "The Shining" making it as family entertainment up in the air ;-)

Hopefully, maybe an Italian bootleg. I will ask in the Italian Facebook group, they usually keep track of things [Smile]
