Looking back through my old film magazines, I came across an advertisement for 'Jef Film Reg' among the titles listed were:

Bye Bye Birdie
The Jolson Story
Emmanuelle
Cat Ballou
Born Free

Anyone here buy any of them? And what are they like now? Do you think they were officially sanctioned by Columbia?

They were a few others but I pick these because they are colour, and to see how they have stood the test of time.

I have Emmanuelle not watched it for a long time, but if memory serves me the focus was a little on the soft side. It was I suppose classed as soft porn in its day. And I seem to think when I went to see it at Studio 5-6-7 in Sheffield it was like that. The support film was "Dirty Harry".

I must be getting old if I can remember that far back. The Studio cinema's almost always had double bill programmes back then about 75 or 76 I would think, and the films were a mix of mainly "X" Certificates. I think I was a naughty boy back then I was only 16/17. [Big Grin]

and sneaking into what are now called '18'

Jef put out loads of trailers too. "Revenge Of The Jedi" was one I bought. The quality of them was usually very good, at least in the films I bought.

How I miss the Golden days.

There was also "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" put out in the
4x200' version David, as you rightly say, rare.

Hugh, These were complete features that they released. Don't know why but missed that bit of info off post.

I have that Golden Voyage, but the UK version from 'Mountain Films' fairly poor print having a greenish tint soft focus and poor sound. Once hired the complete feature from Columbia on 8mm it was WOW

I bought "Jason" from Famous Films in Miami this was excellent.

David - I have an old Cat Ballou feature with no boxes so it may be something from JEF... color is pretty faded but it's such a great film you can look past it.

If you even want to sell your Emmanuelle feature please let me know. My old Italian feature is easily the worst print in my collection!

I know Columbia/Warner had various features for hire only,
like "The Professionals","Cat Ballou","Golden Voyage of Sinbad",
"French Connection","Valachi Papers" etc, but they were S/8.
