I have recently gotten a Beaulieu 708 EL Double Track projector. Everything seems to function except that when I am running the film through the take up reel wants to take the film up to fast and it rips it through the machine as it pulls it.
It seems that the clutch for the rear arm is way to tight. Is this something that happens with age? If I'm winding a film directly from the front to rear arm I can put my hand on the front reel and hold it and the clutch will slip but it seems tight and it slips with a pulse. I can hold back the spring with a screw driver and that doesn't seem to really losen the clutch.
I tried taking it a part so I could see the clutch surface but it seems like that collar is glued on to the threads???
Any advice on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.
