Elmo ST-1200, Canon EOS 650D, White A4 paper sheet, iMac with iMovie 2010, and a whole evening of fiddling about with the manual settings.

The results? Quite good! The iMac is processing the videos now, all filmed in Full 1080p HD quality @ 24 fps, then digitally adjusted to the proper 18 fps. Finding the best settings was the hard part, but after 10-15 attempts at different set-ups, I finally found one that gave me results I can enjoy.

Settings used:
Canon EOS650D w/ 18-200 TAMRON lens
Manual focus and exposure settings
Video mode: 1080p 24fps
White balance: Dusk/dawn
ISO speed: 800 (400/200 for overexposed reels)
Shutter: 1/50
Exposure: f/5.0
ST1200 with the lamp set to 150W for most films, 100W for the overexposed one.

Shot at a distance of about three feet (85 cm), with the camera and projector side by side to ensure minimum perspective distortion. Focus on both projector and camera manually adjusted continually to ensure optimum quality.

What I found using these settings was that it captured the film great when both normally exposed and underexposed, which made them very practical! For the one reel I had that was overexposed I tuned the settings a tad, and managed to make the reel at least alot more viewable.

Like I stated above, the iMac is currently processing the films I have shot so far; three out of seven reels that I have filmed myself. Last batch of Single 8 left for Japan before the weekend, hoping to have them back in a few weeks, then I'll telecine them aswell [Smile]
