Q. When is a Fumeo not a Fumeo?
A. When it is made by Silma

I have just bought a Fumeo model 9914 on Italian eBay.

As you will see this is based on a Bauer most of which were made in Robert Bosch's Silma factory in Italy.

Was this Fumeo's attempt to enter a cheaper market, away from their expensive usual models?

I landed the job changing the metal main control switch shaft back in the 90’s for that machine and it was a hell of a job. The material they used was brittle at its end and snapped off and I think it took me the best part of two days to complete. The little Fumeo 9910 in cream was a cute looking machine also a Silma under the cover and a very quiet runner. Removing the gate pressure plate is something of an art and rather tricky when wanting to clean the gate. A light compact machine but if that light metal switch shaft snaps you will probably have had it today sorry to say.
