Hello all! Though I'm new here, I've been an enthusiast of small gauge film for quite a while now. Part of why I'm posting right now is to ask for a bit of help with a projector I acquired yesterday, the Eumig Mark S 802D.

It's the first decent Multi-8 projector I've been lucky enough to own; and things were going well until last night when I was removing the large "S" sprocket so I could play a regular 8 film. In short, the sprocket I speak of is currently and perhaps permanently out of commission.

While I do plan on fixing it and reinforcing the small alignment pins that snapped off of it, for the time being I was wondering if some helpful soul out there happened to have a broken/parts Eumig Dual 8 and wouldn't mind selling me the part that I require. It seems like it was used on at least a few different Eumigs that have a "D" designation in their product name, and is part number 718.1175/8 according to the manual.

Also, upon further examination of the contents of my projector, I appear to be missing the "S" sleeve for the reel shaft as well, which is part number 725.5710/2 if someone should happen to have a spare around.

Another question I have pertains to the claw mechanism and I was wondering if any other 802D owners could help with this. I think that I'm looking at the right part, but when checking for the "fingers" that will break off if the claw has not been retracted, I see only one on the lower part of it. I seem to remember reading that there would be two of these pins to pull the film, and there is a hole where one would have been riveted in. I just wanted to check if the upper pin did break off, is this projector just good for parts at this point or will it work okay? Nothing looks broken, and it doesn't seem like the original owners ever changed the stuff out to run regular 8, some I'm hoping that all is well.

Anyway, I welcome any help at all and hope to be an active member of this forum for some time to come, also, a big thanks to anyone who took the time to read through this rather lengthy post.

Hello David, the only thing I can tell you is that the sleeves that enable you to change from Standard 8 to Super 8 are available, if you do a search on the internet. These are not Eumig's own. I used to buy dual guage reels for putting my home movies on, they always enclosed a sleeve; sadly I threw them away as I had no need for them. I think it's possible to get Eumig spare parts, I am sure other members will be able to help you with this.
Welcome to the Forum.

Re: the claw pin everything is OK: in dual gauge machines you can't have a double toothed claw because of tolerances.

Other than that, I am afraid I can't help you.

Good luck

John Cappazo's name often comes up on Eumig spare parts requests. He is a forum member, I'd PM him immediately.

Thank you all for your helpful replies, I apologize for not being able to respond sooner.

Robert - no worries about those sleeves. Since they're universal in design, I should have one or two from a dual-8 Bell & Howell hiding around here somewhere.

Maurizio - this is what I imagined the case to be, as the sprocket holes are spaced differently on the two formats, but just wanted to be sure something wasn't amiss - thanks for letting me know!

Akshay - thank you for the info on John Cappazo, I will contact him today.

If I'm able to locate the sprocket I need, I will update this post immediately. Otherwise, if someone else should have a broken Eumig that they're parting out, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks again, and all the best.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to each of us. I wish I had kept my sleeves as I would have been able to use them on my 16mm rewind board. No matter.

David
Here's an eBay link for spool adapters.

Thanks for the link to the spool adapters, Maurice. I'm just giving this thread a quick bump to see if anyone out there might come across it who missed it before.

I still need the large spool adapter that goes to the Mark S 802D, and unfortunately all I've been able to find are spool adapters that go with other Eumigs that are similar, but aren't a match for this one.

I'll be posting a listing later tonight in the "wanted" section in hopes that a fellow 802D owner will have a spare.

Thanks again everyone who reads this and take care!
