Best way these days to make stock when it is needed for a tailor made item, bit like a new quality suit or a hand made musical instrument. Beautifully made item and hand crafted for the GS although I still feel those 20+ year old little DC motors are going to be doing overtime.

I was thinking along the same lines as Lee, wondering whether the projector could cope with a full take-up spool. I well remember Tony Churcher's 1600' SupaSpools, these were the same diameter as 1200' spools, but with a smaller centre.

For a start, they were too heavy even when empty, and when asked to take up all that film on my ST-1200 they ground to a halt a long time before they filled up. The take-up just couldn't cope.

I realise that the ST-1200 only has one motor whereas the GS-1200 has three, or is it four? Does one motor just do its take-up?

I got on OK with the Supaspools but in later years realised as did just about everyone else before me I guess you need to protect those precious GS1200 DC motors which were designed for 1200ft spools max. The good thing about the ST1200’s is that motor is really meaty and although the GS1200 is a fantastic machine it will need lots of love over its latter years. Better get back to the GS and get this show rolling!
