I have Bolex C8 from 1956. There is no original cable release for them at ebay. One friend from same forum said most standard cable releases works with that camera. I dont know the meaning for most and I am looking for help. What to look for cable releases ?

Is there a different categorization between photograph camera releases and cine camera releases ? Do nikon , canon , pentax 35 mm film camera releases work on bolex c8 regular 8 mm camera ?

Or can you give cable end lenght , diameter , thread sizes.

Thank you for your help.

If the cable release has a tapered thread then you should be ok. I use the same cable releases on my Bolex cameras, my SLR film cameras, my rangefinder cameras, my medium format cameras, etc. I have seen a few odd ones that didn't have the tapered thread for very old cameras but they are hard to find. 99% of them use the same thread.
