This may sound nuts, but I actually still buy/collect these little babies. Crazy, huh?

No, not crazy at all. I have about a dozen or so. I do have two of the old Melton hand crank viewers and I have 7 of the Castle 25' Melton editions all perfect in the original boxes. I do want to get all 25 of them. How many do you have?

I hate 'em. I got caught recently on eBay. A Universal Super 8 Woody Woodpecker, "Barber Of Seville", was advertised and its box was also illustrated.

When it was received, I discovered it was a Headline edition and only ran 4 minutes, whilst I must say it has been very well edited I feel cheated.

I can see no point in such editions for the Collector, perhaps some of the old silent versions would have been ideal to keep a young enthusiast happy.

I must have about 30 - 40 of them. All from different vendors (ie:Castle, Ken, Atlas). I never show them to anyone but myself. They're my own private little guilty pleasures. They re just so nostalgic for me. It was headliners that got me hooked on film collecting back around 1970.

Indeed...my first projector ..hand cranked standard 8mm was bought for me for my 9th birthday in 1958. It would only take 50 foot reels so my first two purchases were headline editions of Have Badge Will Chase and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein. At that time Sears sold headline editions for $1.95. Those editions were all many of us could afford, even when we finally got a projector that could take ...ooh, wow....200 ft. reels.

I have a soft spot for Headlines. I've taken mine and put them on 400' reels. Makes for entertaining reels when played with appropriate music.

1.The Human Monster
2.Beast With Five Fingers
3.Vampire and the Ballerina
4.Master Of Terror
5.Castle Of Doom
6.Dr. X
7.The Quatermass Xperiment

HEADLINE MONSTERS
1.When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth
2.First Men IN The Moon
3.The Deadly Mantis
4.Earth VS The Spider
5.Frankenstein Meets The Space Monster
6.Trog
7.Thunderbirds: Attack Of The Alligators
8.Dinosaurus

HEADLINE SERIALS AND THRILLS
1.D-Day On Mars
2.Captain mMhisto and the Transformation Machine
3.Batmans Last Chance
4.Canadian Mounties and the Avalanch Of Death
5.Gunga Din
6.Zorro Rides Again
(need another one to finish this reel)

Cheers
Terry
