Hi just got 3 shorts on ebay for the grand total of £1.04 with free collection as they were 15mins from where i live.I got The Mummy Boris Karloff in origional Castle films box with sound definatley super 8,Sea Monstor horror from another planet silent definatley super 8 in origional box dont know who released it but would be nice to know if anyone can help, and finally Creature from the lagoon (not the black lagoon not sure if same movie) now this one im not sure of the little holes that run it through the projector seem to be larger than the normal super 8 so i dont know.I would appreciate if someone could let me know how i tell the difference as do not want to run it through my Elmo and damage it thanks.

Creature From the Lagoon is indeed Creature From the Black Lagoon.
My guess for "Sea Monster Horror" is one of the many digest versions of Destination Inner Space a kind of Black Lagoon rip off but the creature is from outer space and it takes place in an undersea lab.
Cheers
Terry

oh yes, and larger sprocket holes will be standard 8

There is a quick and easy way to check the difference of magnetic sound films on Super 8 and standard 8.

Super 8 films have their main sound track on the opposite of the perforations although there is often a very small balance track on the outside of the perforations. Standard 8 sound films have their track between the perforations and the edge of the film.

If the films are silent, Super 8 perforations are placed in the centre of a frame, whereas standard 8 have perforations which bisect their frame line.

Standard 8 perforations are much larger than Super 8 perforations.
