I am experiencing an intermittent problem with my GS1200. When I switch the lamp from standby to low lamp position the lamp does not always switch on. Often there is a hesitation of several seconds before it lights up. Or sometimes I can only get it to light up by switching on and off many times. To me it sounds like a lamp relay problem, but has anyone else encountered this problem? And if it is the lamp relay, how hard is it to replace it?

Paul

Have you tried another lamp? and are you sure its not a resistance problem with those lamp pins and holder.

Graham.

Graham is right. Make sure those lamp pins are not corroded. They should be nice and shiny. If you have to just take a piece of very fine sandpaper and clean them very carefully. The pins can break out of the glass or ceramic very easily if too much pressure is applied. Also, make sure the contacts in the socket are cleaned. I use electronic tuner spray.

In addition try spraying the switch also if it is accessible.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys - all good advice. I keep forgetting how fussy those lamp sockets and bulb pins can be. I will try these simple fixes first.
