Can I ask how to adjust the steadiness on this excellent machine, so that the frame line isn't moving as much. It's not bad, but I'd like it steadier. It's not the prints, as they are rock-steady on other machines.

I am afraid it may depend on inherent flaws of your machine, or these prints probably need lube/cleaning and/or perhaps the gate and the claw positsioning are not 100% up to spec. Perhaps a problema of wear in the shutter/pin assemply.

Hi Simon, I have the same issue with my 3 Chinon units. There always seems to be some slight adjustment needed intermittently with the framing. It's not horrible, but I do make a point to sit right near the projector so when it does need adjusting I can do it instantly. I'm probably the only one in the room who notices because nobody else watching with me has ever asked what the black line is or why the image keeps shifting up-and-down. I always catch it immediately plus I'm probably uber sensitive to it. Chinons are nice units, but they are considered lower end models compared to Elmos and Eumigs.
