Hi all,

I've got a Bell & Howell projector in the form of a Sniper HD. [Sadly, MovieStuff have never responded to any of my pleas for help solving film-motion trouble that I've had from earliest days (and now no longer service any projector-based machines). In any case, I'm here for help, not to gripe :-D ]

The takeup on this projector has always been weak, and getting weaker. Now the takeup often stops completely when there's more than 100' of film on the reel.

Can anyone help me with hints on how I might adjust the takeup tension on this unit?

Your thoughts would be MUCH appreciated!

Pete

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum. If your MovieStuff Sniper HD is 8mm then it's probably a GAF projector... not a Bell & Howell. The takeup reel assembly may need a new tire. If you could post a couple of pics of the front and inside back of your machine it would be helpful in trouble-shooting your problem.

Heh. Well, I opened it up. No tire... just a rubber belt running around.

Wouldn't you know: the belt had slipped off one of the takeup pulleys (in such a way that it did not affect anything else!) probably during shipping.

One bump and all is well. One of my easier "repairs" [Smile]
