I have purposely started this as a new topic so that it can be brought up in future by searching.

There are many standard 8 Bolex 18-5 projectors on eBay, most of which are missing their mains lead. Unfortunately these leads are no longer manufactured, however, in the UK, Maplins sell a cable mounting socket which can be used providing the purchaser is prepared to do a little work in adapting the socket to fit the chassis mounting plug on the projector.

This was reported recently on the Forum by Paul Moriarty.

Thanks for the link Maurice. I notice that Maplin warn that the socket is meant for 110V not 240V. While problems are not likely in practice customers have no redress if the socket insulation fails. However once you modify the socket yourself Maplin would have no liability anyway.

The same mains lead is udes in several braun and Leitz Slide Projectors so that can make the search wider to search for them in garage sales of thrift stores.
