I am wondering whether or not to purchase one of these. I revere the Bolex manufacturing but I am fairly new to 8mm film and so I wonder if anyone wants to recommend about the practicalities of getting film for this camera. I know film can be found (easily enough)for the Bolex 16mm, so I hope it is the same story for this model.

Any knowledge you wish to share on the fine-looking Bolex Paillard B8SL would be read with enormous interest.

Thank you,
Simon.

These Bolex cameras (B8,C8,D8) are legendary for their fabulous build quality, with superb finish all metal construction and real leather panels on the sides and the amazing Kern lenses. Truly the peak of amateur cine equipment.
I have a C8, fitted with the Som Berthiot zoom lens. It is heavy of course, but it makes my plastic video camera look like a piece of junk in comparison! Even if you never run another roll of film though it, keep it as a display piece to amaze your friends. But I believe that you can still get Kodak black and white film for these cameras, and possibly Agfa color film as well.
