I was stupid and should not have attempted it but I did, I took my Bell & Howell / Sankyo f1.2 lens apart for cleaning and because of my hand tremors I cannot reassemble it and forgot the sequence of lens because my hands shake so much it spilled over the table.Any help please...

Steve...If you can line up the pieces and take a photo it might be easier to help you sequence the parts back together [Smile]

Steve
Don't give up. I've seen Sankyo machines go fairly cheap on eBay and they use the same lenses. Just keep an eye out. You never know.

I have had no help or sound advice from any-one, I have got on to suppliers/repair etc, no help...

Steve, I think Terrys advice is very helpful and sound.
It is unfortunate what has happened to your lens but this can be replaced over a little time if you keep your eyes peeled on e bay and the likes and have just a little patience.

Dealers don't generally carry very many projectors nowadays but try contacting the repair guys out there like Kevin Brown, Bill Parsons, John White etc etc.

You never know, you just may get lucky very quickly, if not, as said, with a little patience, something will show up on eBay or the likes before too long I'm sure.

I shall do my bit to look out for one for you. I'd hate to think anyone would leave the hobby just for the sake of a required lens.

Sorry it's just me getting down, I know I have to wait, maybe I can get another brand lens and convert sleeve and go along those lines, I don't want a lesser lens than the 1.2 that would be going backwards. It's my own fault and my stupid hands that don't work the way I know they should or used to, it's very frustrating when you know in your mind you can do it but your hands won't let you...

I understand your frustrations perfectly Steve. Until last year I would say I had perfect eyesight 20/20 I'd say. Now,in the last 6 months when working on very small parts, I find myself needing to borrow my wife's reading glasses lol. I doubt I will be admitting to having to buy my own yet!

Nowt worse than growing old, that's for sure.

As said, I will keep a lookout for you. I have a spare Bauer Schneider f1.2 and a spare f1.1 for my Beaulieu and Elmo, just nothing for Sankyos unfortunately as I have never owned one.

There was a superb f1.0 Sankyo lens for sale on here not so long ago from another member of the forum and it was up for sale on e bay also I think, but as it was the very best lens they ever made, it was of course, not cheap but would make a superb upgrade for you and as far as I am aware,it may still be available.

Well I just purchased a Schneider Xenovar 1.2 15.5-28 Bauer pin type in hope I can adapt it to fit, even a temporary fix will give me something, just maybe if I strip the old lens and use the sleeve the Schneider may be small enough to fit inside, just an uneducated thought, it's coming from the EU so I don't know what the condition will be, I'll just have to suck it and see...

Hope it all works out for you Steve. Btw there is a so far reasonably priced 702 in very good condition it would appear, currently on e bay UK. It is at £25 at the moment has the f1.2 lens and also the original box etc. Looks perfect for you Steve.

In the meantime, I have contacted two repair services and one dealer none can help, when I read on their web-site what they can do, I thought if these can't help no-one can, all three have been recommended on this forum, maybe they do not handle optics?...but then again reading what they do as part of a service stripping down optics, cleaning and reassemble is part of their skill, so who knows...

Hi Steve, I have read your comments on the plight of your lens, that's really bad luck mate, and sadly none of the people you tried can help, well if its any help to you send me the lens in the post, with all the bits, and i'll have ago at putting it back together for you, if and when your new lens arrives, perhaps I can help you with a sleeve or modify it for you to fit your projector, just let me know mate.

Thank you so much, the very small coated lens at the rear is cracked so I think the lens is unrepairable or so I have been told, what do you think?...

Hi Steve, lets put it like this, if I can put back together for you, and its no use, you have lost nothing, because as you say everyone you spoke to said its no good ??, but if you can use it as a spare, then you have gained something, it may not be as bad as you think, what have you got to loose ?.

Steve
I messaged you about aSankyo 702 on eBay that would have been ideal for a second projector and would have provided the lens you were looking for. Look what it sold for!

Like I tried to tell you, they do sometimes sell for very little money.

YES!, YES!, YES!, a big BIG thank-you to Paul Browning, he read my post's about my lens problems, and he has restored my faith in human kindness. Paul asked if he could help with my on going problems, I told him I had purchased a Schneider 1.2 lens but it was the wrong fit for my DCT, it was a 28mm barrel with a pin, 'No problem mate' Paul told me, 'Send me the lens and the old lens, and I will fix it for you'. Fast forward to yesterday the postman arrived with a package for me, inside were my two lens and a sleeve which Paul had fashioned out of a ceramic material, very well made with all the correct grooves and notches,Paul also removed the pin and the part that stands proud on the Schneider, the lens fits perfect in the sleeve, in-fact it's such a precise fit there is no need to glue the lens barrel in place. I was so excited at this stage, so into the DCT it went, what a perfect fit, I threaded the film, and was astounded at the picture quality and brightness my DCT has never projected a picture so good uniform sharpness across the whole of the frame.Paul kept in touch with me through-out the process with updates etc, I will always be so thankful to a stranger whom I now call a Friend, thank-you Paul...

Paul is top guy Steve! He is always extremely helpful on here and is highly skilled and very knowledgeable.
You have got yourself a very good lens now there Steve, much better than the one originally fitted to your machine.

As said on many many occasions, this forum has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of the hobby and people like Paul are a true credit and asset to us all!

Luverly jubbly, well done steve, now you can continue to use your projector for what it was intended for, showing film, sorted.

Steve had a run of bad luck really, I felt I could help and I'm glad I did, he's back watching his favourite films on his projector he thought was on the scrap heap, not so. Thank you all for your kind comments.
