Hi all, quick question I've been meaning to ask.

Sometimes when I run a film, it tends to loop (for want of a better word) off feeder reel before it goes through projector.
Only some reels, so is this a problem with reel?

Can this effect the speed projector runs film through.

Just asking as any who followed my post last year about my Sankyo 600, finally got this stubborn machine (which stuffed it's Speed PCB as someone before me had been playing around with the Speed trim pots “Potentiometers” on board way too much) with some great assistances from a friend of mine who is an electronics nuts, now my Sankyo has a variable speed knob, he got rid of original Speed PCB and put the something a tad more modern in. Hard work as he was dealing with an old motor of course. It now works fine at 18 or 24fps, but still not quite 18fps if I compare to my other Sankyo 600 and how long a song recorded on film takes to play, quite sure there is a formula to work this out, but if one projector takes 4.52mins to play that part of film compared to other one which took 4.41mins. Repaired Sankyo is the one that took less time, so to me that means it is still running tad fast. Although more so towards the end of running a file through. So I am very happy with outcome.

For those interested in board etc he replaced original with, see picture below.
He will send me file in due course of the circuitry design etc of it.
I would assume some would be interested in that.

Over run is the expression, probably caused by too little tension which would normally give a slight drag to the feed spool.
I'm not technically minded but no doubt you may be able to sort out the problem at the feed spindle.

Replacement motor control boards are always in demand Phil if any electronics nut wants to provide us all replicas for machines like the Sankyo's, Yelko's, Beaulieu's and Bauer's to name only 4.

From what I have researched myself recently, nearly all component parts and IC's can still be found even if only as new old stock in some cases.

Thanks Maurice, spindle now why didn't I think of that ( he says to himself ) As I had to that do my old Bell and Howell reg 8mm, when I replaced the spindles.
As I have two Sankyo's I can do a comparison.

Yes Andrew, this Sankyo of mine has been a research and design for my friend, sometimes you never know who can help you if you don't ask, he is actually a brother of someone who works for my company.

To correct my post about it he still has Trim pots on board, more modern ones, little square blue ones, so one can still carefully adjust speed there if required.
