I watched several 60 mt (200 ft) films. The two first ones ran without problem but the two next films didn't : a noise was hearable during the time the film was in the gate (nor before, nor after, to be precise, the noise didn't start exactly at the begining of the film but after serveral meters/feet). I had the good surprise to be able to project the following film normally but the last film did the same (big) noise than the preccedingly. Does anyone know what it could be ? This projector has been fixed (from a focus problem) and serviced about a year ago, so I can bring it back to the repairman but as I have other machines to bring also, if I could avoid to carry this projector it could be great.

I was Lucky to be able to solve the problem. There is a small screw down the pressure gate. I turned it clockwise and it fixed the trouble. I had to adjust two or three times before the noise disappeared permanently, though.

I don't know how it was unscrewed. Maybe when I cleaned it.By the way, and it is not linked, I was surprised to see how the sound head was dirty, as I cleaned it recently. The cotton swab was black (not Brown so it was not dirty from stripe residues).

pleased you fixed it Dominique,i use a 502 as my main machine with the f 1.1 Schneider. apart from a bit of hum on the sound this is a lovely combination.
I clean the entire film path with cotton buds and isopropyl once a week,and the gate after each session.

A machine that really does only ever need the absolute minimum amounts of cleaning in and around the film path while ever the films themselves that you put through them are clean.

I use alcool at 70° (they no longer sell the 90° one, nor in Belgium nor in France). I like the Bauer, too. And I'm happy to have also a 1.1 lens as it gives a bigger picture than the standard 1.2. As I still cannot project from my dedicated place (to avoid to lift projectors too high following my slipped disc operation), I have few room between the projector and the screen so I find usefull several lenses I have that gives you a big picture

Yes Dominique, both Schneider lenses for these are excellent I find.

I have f1.1 in one and a f1.2 in another of my 610's.
Aside from the obvious difference in the size of the image from the same throw distance, I find there really isn't much of a difference in the sharpness of image from either.

Both produce top quality wonderfully pin sharp images.
