Has anyone tried these lamps yet, they are saying they are 10% brighter than the Osram XENOPHOT HLX versions. Would be interested to know, Del.

Xenon instead of krypton as the filler gas (XENOPHOT HLX versions)
Luminous flux up to 10 % higher with same power consumption (XENOPHOT HLX versions)
Application in endoscopy lighting
Application in Club and DJ lighting
Energy efficiency label B

HLX EFR are the ones I buy Del. Latest stock so I presume they are Xenon filled. They are bright but then again Osram Xenophot lamps were always 10% brighter than the rest.Much whiter also.

I usually buy one or two packs of 10 in each year. This year I last purchased in April and since now having all new lampholders in all the machines I use, I haven't needed to change lamp every 50 hours or so as I normally would.

I still have 8 left of the last batch I purchased.

Del, just make sure that both lamps focus at the same point, as the brighter lamp output will be of no use to you otherwise. This can be done roughly outside the projector with a bench power supply, connect the lamp up and get it as it would be in your projector, vertical and square to your table top, lamp on the focus will project a cone shaped pattern on the surface, check the new one against this distance, this is an approximate distance as to where the most brightness will focus in your projector.

Hi Paul, that went way above my head, great advice all the same, I'll have a look at the bulb when it arrives to see if I can make sense of what you are saying, thanks, Del.

Paul, Maurice, Andrew, where do you source your lamps from ? I'm with you Andrew I'd like to get 10 at a time if it makes it any cheaper.

Sorry Del, not done to confuse you, but to save you some money and time, ok try this then, make a small tube the same size diameter as your lens, cover one end with plain paper so you have one end is closed off, slide this into where your lens is on your projector, so it can slide in and out, put your existing lamp in, switch on, look down the end of the tube and focus the beam onto the paper so that its as small as you can get it, leave in place, now switch projector off and let cool so you can remove lamp, replace with your new lamp, switch on, is the spot the same size and focussed ?, if not and you need to move the tube then they are not focussing in the same spot at the same distance. The other way is to have a light meter reading at the screen, which is more accurate. What is important is there more light on the screen or not, not how bright the lamp say's it is.

Some machines do allow provision to focus the lamp Del and also to eliminate as best as possible, any hot spots.

I do this just by trial and error until I'm satisfied I've found the best lamp position for any given lamp type.

I've been buying mine from an e bay DJ supply shop called impactLTd ( I think).

This was discussed not so long ago on here Del and someone found us all a cheaper supplier than the very good price I have been paying so just shop around Del on both e bay and a general internet perusal.

Anything around £60 or less is a decent price I'd say for a pack of 10 delivered.

Thanks Andrew, I did check out the other listing and looked on the website but they must be popular as they had sold out of absolutely everything, I've emailed them though, Del.
