I have probably asked this in previous years, but was "Scrooge" (1935) ever released on super 8? I ask as, from what I understand, the Blackhawk company/archives actually had this in they're catalog, and they did have a penchant for printing the odd British early feature film (such as Bela Lugosi's "Phantom Ship", a very early Hammer release), so there just might be the possibility that this exists on super 8.

Never seen it on 8mm but have has the 9.5mm sound print for many years. Screening it at Christmas has been a family "tradition". Quite an early Pathescope sound release. Made at Twickenham film studios. Has an early variable area "Noise reduction" optical sound track. Ken Finch.

I believe Joe is correct. Being that it was a public domain print even back in the '70s it more than likely was available in the 8mm format. I definitely know the Alistair Sim version was available in the UK full length in Super 8. I've seen many a print up for auction on EbayUK over the years.

Yes,I have the Alastair Sim version from 1951, but have never seen the original 1938 Reginald Owen version on Super 8mm.

Joe,are you sure? I have never seen it, much less from a big and amply advertising company. And are we speaking of the 1935 British,or the 1938 American version? Either way,none has appeared in Super,or std 8.

The British 1935 version had Sir Seymour Hicks playing Scrooge, a part he had played over two thousand times on stage, starting in 1901.
The 9.5mm sound print (T9003) was issued by Pathescope in 1940. It was six 300ft reels, abbreviated from the original 78 minutes.

Your're right, a phenomenal radio series that! Amazing that it started (if I'm correct) in 1940 and yet, even with the advent of TV, survived all the way until 1962 ... the last of the Old Time radio series to go off the air, (sniff) ...
