On my Elmo-ST1200HD M:
All the belts are brand new
-------------------------------
When I watch a film on reels larger than 800ft., especially 1,200ft reels it spools on the take up reel unevenly. And towards the bottom right where the film come out of the film guide onto the take-up reel it's just about to the edge, however at that same moment if you look at the top of the take-up reel it has at least 50-100ft left. And the supply reel has a bit to go. Also, the film is spooled on the take up reel very loose.

So my question, can I adjust anything to have it spool more tightly?

Also, when rewinding to supply reel, it could spool it a bit tighter as well.

Thank You For Any Info
Steve M

Are you using the correct Elmo spools which are quite light in weight?
Are the films warped in any way?

On the rear of each spindle Steve, with the rear cover removed, there is clutch mechanism.

The clutch comprises of an adjustable collar on a thread beneath, and clamps against a spring and then a friction washer onto another which is then the drive to your take up spindle or rewind spindle depending on which arm you are addressing.

Tighten the appropriate collar by turning clockwise and compressing the spring slightly.
Then see if this has made a difference.

If not, it can be other factors, but as you've just fitted new belts, try this first.

Hi Maurice,
Thank You for the response. I appreciate all the help on 8mm Forum. You guys are great. Actually yes I do have new Elmo 1200ft reel, and the film are not warped.

However, it was what Andrew Woodcock had suggested. I had to Tighten the appropriate collar by turning clockwise and compressing the spring slightly.

Hi Andrew,

Thank You for the information. It was that. I still need to adjust it a tad more for the rewind. But it's a lot better. What happened I must of tightened the rewind clutch on the front spindle because when I was rewinding a 1200ft reel it completely stopped half way.

Thank You
Steve M
