I was able to acquire a GS-1200 P Xenon that did not have a power cord.

In my quest to find a replacement, I picked up an Elmo Omnigraphic 550W Xenon Slide Projector.

I have another GS-1200 Xenon Optical that had a power cable.
I thought maybe since the power cables looked identical, I could use the slide projector cable on my GS-1200 P Xenon .

I compared the two cables.
On the electrical plug end:
The original GS-1200 Xenon cable says 15A 125V 41-880 on it.
The Xenon slide projector cable says 15A 125V 41-172 on it.

On the projector side male plug end:
Both of the cables say 41-605 250V 10A

It looks like both cables are rated for 15 amps and 125V.
The power cables look identical except the slide projector power cable is slightly thicker than the original GS-1200 Xenon power cable.

I`m confident that the power cable from the slide projector would work for the GS-1200P but I wanted to be sure before plugging it in.
Are there any ways of testing the slide projector power cord to make sure I can use it?

Does anyone want a free 22kg Xenon slide projector minus the power cord? All you have to do is pay shipping from Japan.

Elmo xenon slide projectors make great substitue lamphouses for 35mm projectors when you can't find a proper small unit. Just so you know, in case you want to move to a bigger gauge later in your collecting life... [Wink]

I think I will eventually want to move up to 16mm and then 35mm eventually.

Is one reason why it makes a great substitute because I could use its reflector and I could still purchase 550w xenon bulbs?

If I did use the lamphouse for a 35mm projector, I guess I would be doing something similar to this guy.

Jason, finding a small, affordable, single-phase, xenon lamphouse to run with a 35mm projector at home is no easy task. That's the main reason.
There are a few models of "self contained" portable machines on the market (ie with lamphouse, amplifier, transport system etc. more or less like really big 16mm projectors) but they are more difficult to find and can be expensive.
