I love my print of the Pathe Beatles Come To Town, but it's flat; wondered if there were any legit 'scope versions printed?

They do exist. I think there was one on Paul Foster some months ago and members here have them too. (Not me...)

The sad part is the flat ones were printed much more recently (I got mine new from Derann maybe 8 years ago?)

-so your choices are pretty much 'scope or nice color. I don't think there are a lot of prints that have both.

Derann released scope versions as well as flat versions. The scope release was softer than the flat versions which were amazing in terms of quality.

I never knew Derann released a Scope version. I'll keep an eye out for it.

I believe another distributor (PM Films?) wanted to release this in 'scope but their lab could not get a good result so they only released it flat.

I have this in scope and i believe it was Red Fox,(i could be wrong), personally, if i could get a good colour version in the flat format i would be happy, only because the colour has faded on mine. I got this one from Classic and Phil did say that none of scope copies were very good in colour from new, however, there is still a fair amount of colour left. Will put up some screen shots over the weekend. [Wink]

As Tom stated, Red Fox Films did put this out in cinemascope. It was one of their few scope releases.
I bought mine new back then in the 1970s, and the color was never really good to begin with. Most likely because it was newsreel footage, probably 16mm...

Joe, that's a shame about the colour as the 35mm prints were presented in Technicolor (and Techniscope), the digital versions I have seen have beautiful colour.

I seem to remember selling one on ebay a year or two back, which was a black and white letterbox version.

Mine is a PM films copy which is colour and scope. I bought this from the shop at Beaconsfield around 1982. Maybe this was one of the test prints? Colour and sound is ok but the print is from a well worn neg. Still good as a record of the fab four playing 'live'.
