Good day everybody

I've got an Elmo ST-600 M which has problems with the sound. Does anyone know where I could find the schematics for this projector?

Thank you in advance!

Mika,

There is a classic first thing to try when an Elmo has problems with sound.

Disconnect the machine from power, work all the sound related switches, plug into and then disconnect from all the sound related jacks. This goes double for the red recording key. Repeat these about ten times each. Then try the sound again.

This works because the contacts build up insulating oxides that operating the switches break. It works a surprising fraction of the time, especially with machines that are just out of long term storage.

It doesn't always work, but then again you don't want to find out it would have after your projector is a pile of parts on the kitchen table!

(I bet 30 years ago every projector repair place on the planet knew this one!)

Tom, would you consider sending you manual into be posted in our manuals section?

Hey,

I used to have sound, although it was humming quite a lot. During transportation something seemed to have broken inside the machine and now the sound is completely dead, not even a hiss. One of the old solders must have broken off.

Thanks for the tip anyway!

Hi all, new to super 8 and to the forum. I bought a Elmo st 600 on eBay which was sold as “excellent “ condition. It stopped working almost immediately. Wiggling the three wires from the potentiometer cuts the motor off and on; holding them a certain way allows me to play video but the reels chug along in a staccato movement, the front reel not keeping up and film piles up in front of the projector. I’m feeling ambitious and wonder if changing the potentiometer and checking the belts would a reasonable start for diy repair? I’m not and electrician or anything, can solder a bit. You can also tell me I’m crazy and tell me to take to an expert. Thank you
