Can anyone point me in the direction of a good site to compare differing Nizo cameras? I understand they can be a good shooter but there seems to be a bewildering array of models!

Go to this site, click on the cine camera, and then to Nizo and click.

The most high-end Nizo models are ones in four-digits: 3056, 4056, 4080, 6056, and 6080. These have the sharpest lenses, a lot of great features, run the quietest, and only need 6xAA batteries. The 801 and S800 also shoot sharp footage, but those need 6xAA plus a cell battery.

The high end nizo range do not use standard AA penlight batteries, they use a battery box, and rechargeable 1.2v batteries, and they need to be low milliamp too, 600 - 700 milliamp max. Using standard AA in these cameras will damage the electronics. Go with the canons Stuart they are far more user friendly. One of the first micro processor cine cameras to come on the scene, and you are more likely to find a canon still functioning today, not so sure about the nizo though, very sophisticated camera's, and an mesmerising array of models.

Well, you should follow the recommendation if you don't want to take any chances, but the Nizo cameras have always been used in the U.S. with alkaline or lithium AA batteries in the battery compartment. I've shot dozens of rolls on a 4080 and 6080 and they're still running, but Canon's are also great.
