Hello all,

I had an idea that may not work, but perhaps there are a few suggestions that may make it possible.

I am working on making a projection screen with adjustable masking for (at least) the following positions. Closed, 4:3, 16x9, 2.35:1

I was thinking of using two Da-Lite projector screens on each side for the adjustable masking. I will remove the housing and use the interior spring system to allow my masking to retract neatly. This may or may not require me to remove the screen from the roll and attach the masking (otherwise I will just attach the masking to the screen).

I also wanted to add two, two way draw traverse rods. One on the top and one on the bottom sections of the screen. Attached to one or two of the rods I hoped to ad a motor, such as this one:
Add a Motor

My hopes are to be able to use a remote control to change the masking [Big Grin]

My fear is that the traverse rods will be unable to withstand the tension/force of the spring on the projector screens I will add for masking. I could reduce the tension of the units, but then they may not retract.

Is there any way, or any two way draw traverse rods that can handle this tension? I am open to all suggestions and ideas.

Thank you.
