Hi everyone. One of my projectors needs the bulb holder socket replacing. It uses the 12v 100w EFP bulb.I've looked on ebay and there are quite a few but they only seem to be rated at 50w or the rating is not mentioned.Does anyone know a good replacement and where to get one in the UK ?.There are a few ceramic ones on ebay which would possibly handle the extra power and heat but the rating is not mentioned.

I bought this one:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/gx53-porcelain-lamp-holder-vj11m

It's rated at 100W and will be OK for you. I used one on my Agfa Sonector and my Eumig 936 and it's perfect.

As said elsewhere, Bender & Wirth manufacture the very best and most robust ceramic Lampholders.

The proof of the pudding is which lamp holder still works perfectly well after 10 years or more of hard use.

Many cheaper manufactured lamp holders begin arching etc after a few years of use and cause premature lamp failure by being simply incapable of operating for many many years at working temperatures.

All will do a job, it just depends how long you'd like it last and then how much use your machine is subjected to per annum as to which makes the most sense to fit versus the effort and price to obtain.

Just replaced the socket on my Eumig S938 yesterday. My average is about 3 years life for these sockets. The thing is that they die slowly and screen brightness falls off significantly before the contacts finally fail. I am always amazed at the increase in brightness that I get by installing a new lamp socket.
I have installed screw type wire connectors on all my projectors, which makes lamp socket replacement really easy - no soldering or crimping.

If insulated by a mounting block, one of the best methods of providing a connection to these kind of lamps, is to use the square brass screwed terminal connections from inside a mains 13a junction box.

These provide a very professional screwed solid connection to the lamp pins and the cable end connections, even better if boot lace ferrules are used first on the cable ends.

But for the best purpose built solution, look no further than the correct rated B&W connector.
