Hello to all at the forum.

Since I couldn´t find any topics that somehow were related to my question, I decided to created a new topic – just a simple and perhaps a little strange question:

Is it possible to “re perforate” a super 16mm film, so it will turn out as a double super 8mm film? And - if - it is possible, does anyone know where it can be done?

I think it would be possible to reperf 16mm single perf into double regular-8, but the 16mm perfs are bigger than Super-8s so the best you could get is single Super-8 from the "un-holey" side with the other perforated 8mm unusable.

-Then again if you had a friend that needed R8...

Are you referring to Super 16?
This is single perforated 16mm film with the picture extended over the area usually occupied by the other set of perforations to give a wide-screen picture.
Or, have I interpreted your comments incorrectly?

Steve and Maurice do I feel stupid? Have I only used the inside of my head, I would have realised that a super 16mm film have one row of perforations, AND they have the same size as standard 8mm film, but half as many! Of cause it is the size of the “picture window/plane” that is enlarged, it has nothing to do with smaller perforation (like super 8mm) – I feel like an idiot!

I was a little too fast thinking that super 16mm have the same size perforation as super 8mm film, an extra punch of holes in one side, and a new row of perforations at the other side! It would have been ideal.
To me it seems that it is the absolutely end of buying unexposed colour motion pictures film? Hopefully the folks behind Ferrania Film in Italy will come up with fresh both super 8mm and 16mm film soon...

It is the same song as last; I have got about 1,2 kilometre family film, without any texts explaining who is on the film, when and where it is from. Years ago I bought a 122 meters double super 8mm Kodak 100D film, meant to be used for this purpose, shooting the missing text – (animation, double exposure etc.) Ever since I had my Bolex H8 refurbish at JK Camera, to a double super 8mm camera, I have not tested it. Therefore I recently bought a Formapan black and white reversal film, meant to test it with – but as always in lack of time!!!

Perhaps you can inform me about something else: Where to buy magnetic sound stripe both 0,8mm and 0,45mm? I have only to rolls left - bought at Kinotechnik Rinser in Germany. A very nice gentleman to deal with, but a while ago his website was closed down; therefore I have had a thought that he might have passed away? I do not recall that he at anytime have had a sale to “get rid” of what he might have in store! Not even Wittner Kinotecknik seems to have sound stripe in stock anymore?

Do you know if Wittner Cinetec still sells the glue and the magnetic tape? I know they used to, but I just checked their website and I couldn't find it on there. Was I not looking in the right place? Or have they discontinued it?

It appears Wittner does not carry either anymore. They stopped selling .45mm tape in 2013 because the slitting was too time consuming. At that time they were talking about trying to sell their raw stock (6.3mm) along with their Weberling slitter machines.
