Edouard
I have a book describing all Popeye films. If you will translate the action of some of them I will try and help you with the original titles.
Here are two Film Office films in my collection:-

Popeye & Bluto Demenageurs - A Haul In One - 1956
Popeye Chez Les Cannibales - Pop-Pie A La Mode - 1945

The last film is generally banned because of its treatment which was quite acceptable to audiences in 1945.

There is a site with the episodes listed with their description but it is in English and they don't give the French titles.

I have 2 on Super 8mm,I'm not sure how I ended up with French releases?
So I used Google Translate and got a English translation,it doesn't give me the actual original titles and being 50ft titles then I'm guessing they were renamed for these releases?
Popeye enleve par les Martians - Removed by the Martians
& planteur d'epinards - Spinach planter colour silent 50ft each

I doubt this helps but I thought I'd tell you [Smile]

Popeye has hundreds episodes from 3 different companies.

Many of its episodes have similar story one to another, so it is hard to find the correct title.

I was facing this similar problem when compiling all Tom & Jerrys available on super 8mm from many sources, and finally reach this:

[Catalog] The most complete list of Tom & Jerry on super 8mm. Anyone has all?

So I guess this thread can be done for similar purposes and everyone can contribute what foreign titles they have and the official English titles to it.

I will start with:

Popeye Premier Avril
Popeye Deux Adorables Jeneux
Popeye A La Fete Foraine
Popeye Le Bolide De Popeye
Popeye Toreador

They are all from Film Office, do you have the official title in English?

If I may say something : unlike what you do in English, only the first word of a title takes a capital letter in French (except of course when there is a name that is always written with a capital letter like a the name of a person, of a country, a city and so on).
Winbert, the second title you listed is actually : "Deux adorables jumeaux", "jumeaux" means "twins".

Winbert : I saw your great work with Tom & Jerry 1 month ago !!! and I'm doing an excel list of Tom and Jerry with cover artwork and foreign title. I'll post it in the forum soon. And I'm trying to do the same with Popeye, Pink Panther, Bugs Bunny etc...

Thanks Maurice!!
For number 3) great!.
For number 2) I thought that Popeye l'invincible was not "a dream walking" . This one is in B&W and had never be edited in color (I think). After a long hour a search, I finally discover the right title : "Mess Production" - 1945.
Now, I put all the descriptions which I had.
Arf... long work too!
I HAVE JUST SEEN YOUR WORK Panayotis!!!
I'm just impressed!!!!
Thanks, how did you do it?

4) 1954
5) 1956
6) 1945
7) 1953
10) 1946
12) 1952
13) 1953
14) 1950
15) 1949
16) 1951
17) 1951
18) 1947
19) 1944
22) 1951
23) 1950
24) 1950
26) 1946
27) 1949
28) 1956
29) 1950

33) 1946

The single reel Popeyes went into colour as from "Her Honor The Mayor" in 1943, although there were three 20 minute specials in colour in 1936.

"Ace Of Space" 1953 was made in 3D.

"Popeye's Pappy" 1951 is generally banned because of its content. Click below to see it.

I just wonder, is #17 "All Fair's at the Fair" ? or is it "Abusement Park" or "Thrill of Fair"?
I urge you fine people to have a look at those last two as the rollercoaster scene in Abusement Park and most of the scenes and gags in Thrill of Fair were shamelessly ripped-off to create the Roger Rabbit Short "Rollercoaster Rabbit".
Salut Edouard [Wink]

The IMDB says of "All Fair At The Fair":-

"Bluto is a daring hot-air ballooner at the fair and catches the eye of Olive. Bluto make Popeye look bad on several occasions and then takes her up in his balloon. Popeye comes to her rescue with the help of some fireworks."

In "Abusement Park" Bluto tries to impress Olive. Scenes include The Tunnel Of Love and the film concludes on a roller-coaster.

In "Thrill Of Fair" it is little Swee'pea who crawls into a hot-air balloon, and it's up to Popeye to rescue him.

It appears that "All Fair At The Fair" is the correct title as stated by Panayotis.

Yes Maurice, indeed, but I typed the wrong number. I meant #24 "Popeye à la fête foraine".

Edouard thanks for your great job. As this thread has a specific purposes while the subject does not show it. So for the future reference, can you change the subject please.

Something like "Popeye (Film Office) french titles in its original Englis titles" will help.

For your future complete list of Popeye, here what I have:

200'
Popeye Spinach Ville
Popeye And The Magic Hat
Popeye In Ace Of Spaces
Popeye A Haul in One
Popeye Baby Wants Spinach
Popeye Penny Antics (Derann)

400'
Popeye Popeye and 1001 nights
Popeye Meets Alibaba

Companies that are known to release Popeye episodes are: Ken Films, Film Office, Derann, IE, Americom (with sound disc), Niles Films (400') and osme other that I do not know. Some companies had bogus titles like Film Office did.

cheers,

The IE and Americom Popeyes are from the 1960 tv series.
