My 10 Commandments is here with me Full Feature ( 10 x 180 meter) , the film stock is black at sprockets so I guess it's Kodachrome ? Colours are great at first look, ( no fading to see ) but need to view the complete print of course later for lines or scratches .. Any ideas ? it's not often I encounter Kodachrome prints I , strange or not ? Thanks, Gilbert

I don't know who produced it specifically, but I have also heard of "Bambi" being printed on Kodachrome film stock as well.

If that print you have is in fact Kodachrome, then you have a GREAT high dollar item!

Thank you Osi, let me tell why I'm almost sure it must be, I filmed my wedding long time ago (1972 ) in Kodachrome on Super 8, so it's 45 years ago now, and my Super 8 print has moved with me allover the planet where my business took me, from dry places to wet places such as London and Cardiff and to Los Angeles and Florida and guess what, the colours on my wedding film are still vibrant and beautiful with zero fading at all today ..well ... this Ten Commandments print has the same stock as my wedding movie .. looks 100% similar , and to be honest I have seen a few thousand Super 8 movies so far in the many years I do movies. There's a difference between AGFA, SP, LPP and this one, so it can only be Kodachrome ..

What you have there is almost certainly a reversal print of a 35mm print of the film. Although the colors can be great, most of the reversal prints I run into are rather dark and tend to have a high contrast. How is yours ? Have you been able to screen it yet ?
My guess is this one of those German bootleg prints made in the seventies. Quality can be hit or miss as sometimes there is printed in damage from the original print. I have a (German) reversal print of Earthquake on Kodachrome.
Is your print with German sound, German titles ?

My print is German titles, English Sound track. Yes it has marks that come from the 35mm print used.. is that bad news for me ?

Well, not necessarily. With the subtitles on it, even with english sound, it might be a harder sale at a high price, but I would certainly LOVE to see some screenshots from it as, if it IS taken from a 35MM (and even better a technicolor 35MM?), than the color might be better than anyone else would ever find for this film.

I am envious! [Big Grin]

No no Osi it has NO subtitles, The Title of the Movie is in German, and maybe a few other credits, but NO subtitles, English Speaking ...

This could be one of those German based prints. Some of them are known for the mag sound track not holding to the print. In other words, parts of the mag track will fall off in pieces.

Make sure you check it for this. I recall reading about this problem in the past.

The only thing I can say is that the colours are much better than the Marketing Prints I had so far ( The 3 x 400 ones ). If it's not DERANN how perfect can we expect prints to be. It took me over 20 years to find a full 10 Commandments , I'll resell it of course. Just happy to have found one. The colours are NOT as the Blu Ray that's for sure ... Not bad neither ... As I say better this one than the Marketing three part one.

I think this print is not to be confused with the 'recent German' prints. This one is printed on Kodachrome and if the print has both a main track and a balance track, then you can almost be sure that soundstripe will be of good old fashioned Kodak quality.

I can read Eastman in blue characters on the side of the sprockets (of course), could this come from the 35mm print ? To be clear the print is black film stock , so the blue Eastman can be read in the light through the black of the film stock Were Kodak and Eastman the same at one time ? Kodak - Eastman ?

Isn't the company name Eastman Kodak, usually shortened to just Kodak?

A Mystery to me why it says Eastman between the sprockets , looks like Kodachrome , and has colours who stayed well. Beats me.

The lettering is on the super 8 stock and is not printed through from the 35mm source, since these prints were not contact printed but printed optically. Eastman in blue lettering would mean your print is not Kodachrome but Ektachrome. The good news: Ektachrome reversal prints made off positive prints had better contrast, were less dark than the Kodachrome ones. The bad news: this is not low fade stock, but most Ektachromes seem keep their colors very well.

Ektachrome , that is one I didn't thought about. Colours stayed well on this print, but what are the known results on the long term so far ? I can assure that the colours are still nice, not as nice as a technicolor print I once owned on 16mm , but still very nice . I will view the movie after this week end of the 1st of September, At least all the reactions here were extremely helpful so far. Thank you very much for that, warmest regards, Gilbert
