Set up and ran my dad's late '50's early 60's Revere 777 a few days ago, all was well until both reels stopped turning, but motors were running and light was on (burned film within couple seconds). Looking for (I suspect) replacement drive belts, and a manual so I do it right the first time. Other than that, it ran great through several large diameter reels (200', 400' - about 6" diameter). Any leads you recommend and trust? THANKS!

I might be pushing my welcome with this one.

Removing old rubber belts (there are only 2) from Revere 777. One was no problem. 2nd belt has a bracket going THROUGH the center of the belt, a bracket which moves the main large drive pulley off the drive motor (not on the motor) to change from reverse, forward and neutral. Control switch on outside of cabinet moves this bracket; bracket can also be moved with cabinet which also changes the f-N-R position. There is NO apparent disassembly method, no screws. Does anyone know if the major assembly of this bracket has to be disassembled to remove the belt? This qualifies as a "dumb question" but I don't want to trash a 60 year old projector that's in otherwise excellent condition. It is a regrettable fact that many projectors need to be partially dismantled to change their drive belt. Strange that the designer never thought that a rubber belt might break and need replacing.

I wonder if those belts were really meant to be spring belts, and they are supposed to be opened, put in place and then closed.
