Hi I could do with some good advice please re my elmo st180, there is no sound coming from track one except a loudish hum drone type noise.

Track two doesn`t make it so assuming thats OK.

Its a lovely machine so worth sussing if doable at sensible levels.

Thanks in advance.

Best Mark.

Hi Mark,

I’ve had problems like this with my ST-1200HD and restoring it was nothing more than moving the track select switch back and forth to break the oxides on the switch contacts.

On the other hand the same machine lost track 2 like this a few weeks ago and I am now getting ready to solder in some new pre-amplifier ICs.

I sure wish it was just the switch this time!

Hi steve thanks, now tried that many many times and still no joy, its like a very much louder and distorted hum on track one.

Though I did hear odd sound on one film, just a say.

Not having much 8mm luck at the moment, if it keeps going this bad I can feel a once and for all digital swing coming on.

By the way does anyone know which side speed pot adjusts the 24 FPS please as I can`t remember at all.

Thanks Mark.
