Good morning all I have just joined & this is my first post.
Many years ago just as production ceased I bought a Eumig 938 around 12 months later I lost the sound on both channels at the same time. Does anyone have any idea what may be wrong, it seems strange both channels went together.
Thank you

When something like this happens, it's usually something both channels would share, like input power.

It could be that there is a fuse on the board, and something on one channel shorted and blew the fuse for both.

Also possibly the link to put the pressure pad on the sound heads into Sound mode after threading could have failed.

I have a similar projector, the Eumig 940, and there was no sound in one channel when I got it earlier in the year. The previous owner had even written to Johnsons of Hendon in the 1990s to find out if they could fix it. When I got it home and took the back off it was simply a detached wire. Plugged back in and the channel's sound was restored.

It could be something as simple as that. Fuses are worth checking as Steve points out, or even the red sound head presser as Brian suggests. These can be replaced - Van Eck sell them: just do a google search for

Eumig S9-serie - Red Clip - Sound Head retainer - PP-0077

It's usually clear if the sound head presser has failed - it will be broken and not pressing the sound head plate against the heads properly.
