Have any of you encountered having an old bulb that was stored for a long time where the pins have tarnished and/or have slight corrosion where they don't light up in your projector? I'm talking NOS 'Brand New' Bulbs here. I've solved the problem by replacing with a newly manufactured bulb...but I hate to throw out a perfectly good lamp if I can somehow make it work. Is there a technique or cleaning procedure to use to restore the pins so they make contact properly again?

Use some very fine wet & dry emery cloth. Support each pin from its rear as you apply very gentle pressure with the wet and dry.
I suggest cutting the wet & dry into a small piece to be easily handled.

This is a common problem. I use a craft knife to scrape the oxidisation from the pins. Very effective and easier than using emery paper/wet & dry. The advantage is that you can see when you get down to the metal of the pins.
