As we in America experience this Artic cold blast, I was wondering about running our equipment.

When would it be considered TOO cold to fire up the machines?

My basement is dry but perhaps slightly stuffy smelling, especially in the summers. Right now the average temperature is about 55 degrees. Cold enough to require a sweater - but not cold enough to see my breath.

I do think about this before turning on the GS 1200. This should apply to any brand machine. So what do you think?

Chip, 55f should be no problem at all, after all that's a typical summers day in the UK! [Big Grin]
I would think that the projectors would love operating in a cold ambient, as long as the correct lubricants have been used.

Most things that run hot usually are happier at cooler ambient temperatures than hotter ones.

-and temperatures that are so cold that mechanical and electronic things won't work are way, way too cold for human beings!

You go out at 10 below zero F and twist the key: as long as the battery is OK you expect the car to start.

How well would you or I function at 10 below?
