I've monitored Super 8/ Std 8mm projector prices on eBay in the UK since I got back into the hobby in 2015. For what some might say was obsolete stuff, projector selling prices remain high despite few sellers stating that the projector offered is in full working order and has been tested with film. An Eumig 600D, which is a fairly basic machine running at 18 fps, went for £24 plus shipping recently despite the seller stating " Was in working order last time it was used (long time ago), not tested recently ". I can't help but wonder who's snapping up these projectors. There must be a limited number of buyers with old family cine films that they want to digitise. Is the same thing happening outside the UK?

There is a good trend recently for buying retro stuff. Even in my home country Indonesia, where people are sill struggling for life, retro stuff is sought after.

A reel-to-reel in not working order is easily sold for $50.

Projector is now considered as a retro too. So whomever now have junk projectors in their garage, advertised them as retro stuff, you may get some good money rather than to toss them.

I can see the old projectors that is sought after more than those Japanese plastic projectors are Eumig, Bolex, Bell & Howel (the old ones not the recent plastic models), etc.

B&H is not something fetch a good price between us, but you can sell it outside our league for more money.

Cheers,

Thanks for that interesting observation, Winbert. I suppose that some projectors are not purchased for use but for display in the retro market. Most are functional but others can be attractive eg Cirse. I have a Bolex 18-9 with wood effect panels. I did suggest putting it out on display but my wife questioned my sanity!
