I was wondering, with a friend, how much it could cost a Bolex H8 (maybe with the lens or just the camera body) at the time of the release.
And what the cost would be like in our day.
Does anyone have data about it?
Thank you. [Smile]

I cannot give the actual cost asked for but I can say its cost new in 1954 in the United Kingdom. (UK pounds).

H8 with Switar 12.5mm. f/1.5 lens = £190
Yvar 25mm. f/2.5 lens = £33
Yvar 36mm. f/2.8 lens = £34
De Luxe carrying case = £13

The equivalent cost today of the Bolex H8, with just a single lens, is 5,148 pounds sterling or $6,692.
In other words a small fortune back then! My father made 12 pounds a week back then, so this camera was totally out of reach for the average person. Only a wealthy person could have afforded this camera.
