One of my S938 take-up arms has been slowing then stopping with an 800ft take-up spool when about 2/3 full. 400ft spools are fine, just when an 800ft starts filling up.

Can anyone help me fix this?

Hi Martin

Drive to the take up spindle goes through a friction clutch. It sounds like that clutch needs further tightening to prevent slip when using the heavier 800' reel and film.

Take off the projector rear cover and you will see it on the end of the drive shaft to the take up arm. It will have a coiled spring upon which you can increase the pressure.

Have a go and let us know.

Done, as you described by tightening tension spring. Just spun a full 800ft to test and the torque is back again. Thanks so much, Frank.
