Hello Everyone,

I recently snagged a Sears Delux Editor Viewer at a local flea market. Love it! It's the first motorized editor I've had and it has a nice big screen.

However...

The picture is not very bright. Is there any way I could swap out the old bulb for a cooler/brighter LED? Anyone ever try this?

Editors seem to have been designed for 6v 10w bulbs as used on motorcycles. It might be worth your while trying to get hold of a halogen one. Ask at your local bike shop.

The problem with upgrading the lamp to a higher wattage is that the transformer is not designed for the extra load and it could cause major damage.

Hmmm.

What I'm looking at is a LED BA15D Corn Bulb. It takes an input of 120 V, uses only 5 watts as opposed to 10 watts and produces about 300-400 lumens.

I guess I'm thinking that you can go to the store and buy an LED bulb to pop into a reading lamp or ceiling light and it will last longer, use less electricity, and be brighter. No wiring required you just replace it. Wasn't sure if this worked the same with wee bulbs or not.

OK- So I discovered that the bulb in my editor is an 1129. After a bit of research I found an LED that states it replaces an 1129 bulb.

Details:
