Chinon Sound 8000.
The projection lamp on this projector will not light. I have inserted a new lamp. Everything else appears to operate correctly. Any suggestions on how to check out this fault

If you can use a multi meter, check for power at the lamp socket, not sure what lamp it uses, 12v or 15v, if no power is detected then check for a fuse blown or lamp holder burnt out. The lamp pins can arc out the connections if not fitting or well used, this will render the lamp holder unusable and will need replacing.....

The problem is usually due to corrosion on the contacts on the lamp pins or in the socket contacts. Cleaning the lamp pins is quite easy with the aid of a craft knife or emery cloth to remove the corrosion. If it is due to corrosion in the socket try inserting and removing the lamp a few times and wiggling it as you do so. this helps to scrape the corrosion away by means of friction between the pins of the lamp and the contacts within the socket. If you persist with this it will most likely solve the problem. Of course you should do it with the power OFF.
Let us know how you get on.
