Hi Chip...I have both a Eumig 810D and a Eumig Somatic 824. I use them only for Standard 8mm sound projection. The 824 is the higher grade model, but I find the 810D to be equally reliable.

We also use the Eumigs. Brother has the basic 802 but also the 810DLUX and the 822 sonomatic. The sound from the standards 8s is very good. Because the image is smaller on screen on standard 8 we use the Eumig F1.2 suprogen lens which makes a huge difference, not just in a larger image but also the brightness/ contrast.

The standard 8mm magnetic stripe is wider than the super 8mm main stripe, so sound quality should be better on standard 8mm. Also the 56 frames separation on standard 8, versus the 18 frames separation on super 8, means that the film is running much smoother over the standard 8 sound head and the sound 'flutter' which can sometimes be heard on some super 8 machines, is virtually non-existant on standard 8.

I have just posted 8mm sound films in the "For Sale" section. Why not take a look?
