My cousin has generously given me his Wolverine and after a few reels I’m thinking how to improve image capture.
I’ve read all the modification discussions and wonder if there is a simpler solution.
My iPhone doesn’t quite fit in the light path but a prism would, from say a broken or old binocular then any camera could be horizontally mounted.
Syncing the shutter may need a bit nore of a thought experiment but I recall a mod to a canon pocket camera with the Canon Hackers Development Kit (CHDK) that would fire a shutter at a certain light level

Registration of the external equipment with the Wolverine would need a “lock step” slot in of some sort if you haven’t space to leave a permanent setup.

Any one tried this?
Or any other thoughts - if you think of a problem and it’s solution would be great.

That Wolverine Scanner is essentially a film transport mechanism,tied to an image capture system (a cheap ones,to be honest).

If we ditch the camera,the rest is then more or less the same as conventional projector mechanics. [Roll Eyes]

The only difference is this runs at low speed. Adding the trigger system to "tell" the camera unit to "capture",and that's it.

So instead of gutting out that wolverine's innards,try finding a simple sprocketless silent projector for the modification instead. It doesn't even have to be fully functional to begin with (it'll be ruthlessly "modified" anyway [Wink]

). I'd already done this kind of route but with SD camcorder. The result seems more than good enough for my customers,and me too. [Big Grin]

But my point was not to disassemble the.Wolverine Rather to create an “add on” to overcome the relatively poor camera, and get full control over the images.

I too have disassembled a projector and it’s all quite “messy” to achieve the film transport and illumination. Something the Wolverine does in a neat package.

If I make any progress with this I will post details
