Yeah Kev, (but I thought you knew this?) [Wink]

In honor of Dietrich Kempski who released so many fantastic titles in 'Scope with some 'matted' to the correct ratio of 2.35:1.

Without him we probably wouldn't have 'Scope prints of BEN HUR, Dr ZHIVAGO, WEST SIDE STORY, LOGAN'S RUN, POLTERGEIST, 2001:A SPACE ODYSSEY, 2010:THE YEAR WE MAKE CONTACT, YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, THE FEARLESS VAMPIRE KILLERS, BRAINSTORM, MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY, TOM AND JERRY'S in 'Scope ...and many more no doubt! [Smile]

Kev,
Legend has it [Eek!] (okay I have an advert from Movie Maker!) Forbidden Planet was available in 'Scope too but I've never seen it advertised For Sale secondhand, have you? Or has anyone?

Dear Ricky,

Sadly "Forbidden Planet" was never released, Cineavision obtained the rights, and rumour has it even went as far as pre-print material for a 3x400' release (and perhaps even F/L), when Doctor Van Tettering, head of Cineavision suddenly died, and as the business was not doing so well, his son would not go ahead with the release, and Kempski in Germany bought up the rights for scope 8mm releases, but never went ahead with a "Forbidden Planet" release.

Barry,

Thanks for the details on Forbidden Planet, what a shame it would have been a great title to own in 'Scope. And thanks too for the Christmas card you sent, Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Rick.

Hi Scott and Ricky,

it is right, that Forbidden Planet was never released for sale. But before Dr. van Tetering died he and Kempski planed to release the feature. So they made four testcopies in CS. Two with German sound and one with englisch and french. A good friend of me own one of the german versions. Kempski himself offered him the print. I know Derann had one print of the CS copy in the list, but the price was very high (I think it was 375£). This print goes to another collector in germany, I also known. You see Forbidden Planet will be available in CS, but very rare (four prints only).

So Scott get out of bed and search.

Greetings
Ralf
