Ian, are you in a position to contact Osi?

Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on December 12, 2009, 11:20 AM:

I just sent an e-mail to Ian just moments ago, (it is Saturday), and I hope that no one has snatched it up already. There are a number of titles that I want, but that's the one to start with.

I really annoyed, in that my home PC went down two days ago, and I only have the option of sending a e-mail once a day! GRRRRRRR!

I have secured "Grizzly Adams"! HNo doubt in about a week or so, I will make the official review of the film. Ian is very reliable when it comes to color, so I'[m betting I'm going to get as close to perfect color that i could ask for on this old of a title The other desired title I'll have to wait for, grrrrrrr!

UPDATE: Ian wrote me back and said that, unfortunately, the color is pinked on "Grizzly", which I certianly appreciated, and I'll be waiting for another copy to come along, but that's OK, the merry chase continues!

Osi, are you taking this one and then waiting for a replacement? At least you'd have one, and surely you can get a good price on it because of color issues.

Posted by Gian Luca Mario Loncrini (Member # 1417) on December 14, 2009, 05:58 PM:

Osi, so sorry in reading about the color of that print.
And in reading about Micha and his lost opportunities.
Fellas, remember the big hunting is part of the fun. It's even better to wait for a while eh eh eh [Wink] .

(Osi, correct me if I am wrong), knowing almost all optical prints are in Eastman or Kodak SP, I doubt you will get a good color print, especially this is pre-1980s films.

I would follow what Greg says.

Damn! I really want Return Of The Jedi but I have no money! Hopefully, Derann will still be selling it by the time I raise the money.

Of course, I'll need a Scope lens too. More money I don't have. [Frown] Ah, well. Life marches on.

I've had a scope lens for a while, but still no bracket. I'm thinking of making one out of wood, like Chip Gelmini's. It looks sturdy enough, and I'm thinking the cost factor will be minimal... a trip to Home Depot, saw or Dremel, and some sandpaper. Worth a shot.

Has anyone heard from Ian? I sent him a request on the 12th and it has been very quiet on this end....maybe he sold every title I asked for. [Frown]

Posted by Gian Luca Mario Loncrini (Member # 1417) on December 15, 2009, 11:57 AM:

Hi Alan.
I know for sure his mail box was FULL of messages and orders. He's doing his best to sort all mails. So this is probably the only reason why it's taking so long [Wink] .

I hope he will reply soon and say HEY, I STILL HAVE ALL TITLES YOU ARE AFTER.
Good luck!

Alan. I spoke with Ian on Sunday and he is absolutely "snowed under" with e-mail requests. Also, during the week he has his "bread and butter" job to attend. He did tell me that he is numbering all mails in numerical order, so as to be fair to all.
I am sure he will be in touch soon, with hopefully, good news for you.

P.S. Osi - what "optical" title did you miss out on?

Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on December 15, 2009, 01:36 PM:

It's "Cannonball Run 2" moronic yes, but fun.

Actually, I just wrote Ian again, Greg, asking about that very same question. If the "pinking" isn't too bad, maybe he'll let me have it, he already offered it to me for a lower price, so, if the colors aren't too bad, I might still take it. I have a color print of it already, but the blacks are all reddened. It's curious, in that all the colors appear to be fine, except the blacks. decent blues, ect.

Who knows, I might still luck out.

Dat ta ra! He's here! "Cannonball Run 2" - Oh dear! What can I say? At least, it's in the "family", little Bro.... [Smile]

Posted by Osi Osgood (Member # 424) on December 16, 2009, 01:27 PM:

Oh well, enjoy Big bro! It's a hoot.

Ian hasn't wrote back about how "pinky" Grizzly is. Its too bad that he can't send a screenshot, which would make it easy, but he goes out of his way for the customer already.

What a weekend!

Three days without any water, (pipes completely froze up)
Home computer goes down (still not up!)
Our little boy got the runs/terrible stomach
City sewer line backs up into the house.

I hope to find my Grizzly someday!

It was a hell of a list, though, to be sure. I wonder if Ian decided to keep any for his own collection. Who bought "Robin and Miriam'? I'm betting it sold. It was good to hear that this film actulally made it out onto Super 8!

Hi Osi. I'll try and let you have some screen shots of "Run 2" (not to make you jealous, of course). The colours on the first couple of minutes of each reel are very impressive.

With regards to your disasterous weekend and "Grizzly Adams" I think you'll have to grin and "Bear" it. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
Sorry about that Bro.... hope things get better for you all for Christmas. [Wink]

Hi-

I'm wondering if you still have The Music Box available? I think it was 1331. If so,do you ship to the US and how much would the total be?

Thank you!

Tim

"Grin and Bear it"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ...

HAHAHAHAHAHA ...

AH HAHA!

HA ...

EHHH SHOOT ME!

Never got a second reply on Grizzly from Ian. Perhaps he already sold it to another person. He might just be REALLY busy, (which wouldn't surprise any of us, eh?), it's going to be a jolly holiday for Ian as well as so many others.

You know, when it comes to finding a good print of "Grizzly", it could be years. I mean, it took a good twenty years before I ran into a perfect color print of "Conduct Unbecoming", and that was one I gave up trying to find, so it's still possible.

Can someone go over to Ian's house and make sure that:
A) He is not lying underneath mountains of films
B) Hold my films for me?

[Smile]

I too sent an E-mail, and I haven't heard. With the goldmine he's sitting on, I imagine that (figuratively speaking) there's a line out the door..... [Big Grin]

Did anybody get the GONE WITH THE WIND print from Ian?

How's the colour?

I'm interested in the various prints of this title that are available - kind of a personal catalogue.

I have a copy of this and have to say that its really a gorgeous print. Very saturated colors. And I have heard that they are all like that. There was one on Ebay a month ago. It sold for only $250-300! Crazy.

Did anybody on the forum by the Grizzly print? I'm assuming that Ian sold it to someone else. How is the color of the print?

Michael O´Reagan
I bought Goned with the Wind from Ian. The film only arrived a couple days ago due to delay in the post. So far I only had a
chance to watch the beginning of reel one. The print is outstanding. It is very sharp and the colour is beautiful.
I hope to see the rest during the next few days.

Antonio,
Thanks for the info. Is this a Derann print?
Are Derann the only outfit to turn this title out in S8?

Michael, I never seen Gone with the wind from other source. So Derann may be the only one. And it is still available brand-new. CMIIW.

Winbert, I didn't see Gone With The Wind on Derann's site. Are you saying it's still available from Derann or someone else?

Just got my film RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK from Ian. This was my first purchase from him and I was really impressed with his service. Just watched the first 1200 foot reel and the film looks great. Was this printed at Andec Labs in Germany? Some pre-print wear but the image looked great. Much better than the 2 prints I've seen on 16mm, both dupes as well, but the lab did a much better job.

Posted by Winbert Hutahaean (Member # 58) on January 08, 2010, 12:38 AM:

Greg, what I meant, Derann once sold this brand-new. And considering they still have the negative, they possibly can print it as long as there are enough orders. (is it minimum 2, right?)

rgds,

......as soon as Derann finds another lab. One of the labs they have used (use) is Film Lab North in Leeds. It was part of ITV and closed due to their recent big losses.

Derann mention this in their latest 16mm newsletter. I should point out they also say not to panic about it as they have good stocks.
