For sale is a full length (3 x 240 m reels) copy of Stanley Kubrick's '2001: A space odessey'.

It is a flat print, has magnetic sound and faded colours. The film itself has very few scratches and the film still has some green and blues, although very little.

Asking price: € 125

Jeroen any idea who issued this version? It can't be the full length version issued by Derann.

Correction Ken films released the full length flat print originally.

Could be the German UFA print. This one is full lenght (with Intermission and Exit music), but flat (pan & scan, only the titles are printed anamorphic) and now has reddish colours. But it is 8x600ft (=4x240m). Haven't watched this for years as the wrong aspect ratio is a shame.

The german UFA print is 8x400´ so it is possible that it´s a 3x800´version now; WEST SIDE STORY from Kempski runs 151 minutes and I bought it on 3x800´ reels. It depends on the material and the late UFA-prints had a thinner material.

You're right. 8x400, not 8x600.

Keeping in mind our sales rules, I will leave these comments up until Jeroen lets us know who released his print.

Dear fellow film lovers... I am new to this forum and therefore also to all the rules applied regarding to message content, etc.. All I can say is that the feature has faded colours with very little green and blues left... On top of that, I have no idea who issued this print...

As for reacting just now: I get no message notification by email – apart from private messages – on new replies of this topic I've started.

In the near future I'll sell Disney's Dumbo and Pinnochio (both Derann) and will check if that's on e.g. Agfa stock. Actually, I want to get rid of my S8 features as in reality, I hardly watch them anymore... That goes for Aliens, The Fugitive and Dr Strangelove as well. From what I know is that Derann printed quie some features on low fade Agfa stock...
