The pin that engages the focus knob on my newly acquired Eumig 926 has broken off. I see that the previous owner had glued it back on. Does anyone here have a spare lens with the optical leveling system? (1.3 14-30 zoom) [Confused]

I might have a spare Eumig optical leveling lens lying around. But as I am currently on holidays (but reading this forum yes!) I can only confirm this next weekend.

Alexander, allow me to use this thread in thanking you for your wonderful help in transferring money to Luxembourg.

I haven't emailed you because I knew you were still in holiday, but everyhting is settled now and the item is on its way.

Again thanks and have a good day!

Joe, am sorry to hijack your thread.

cheers,

Joe. Is it the lens you need or the projectors focus knob?

Lee: I need the lens because the pin that broke off was part of the lens housing. If only Eumig had made the part out of metal instead of plastic [Mad] Its possible that a tiny hole could be drilled and a screw inserted with its head cut off to replace it. But I do not have the tools to do so. And the area looks like it has a bit of plastic gone from when the previous owner fiddled with it. I know I removed the lens properly to clean the gate as I bought a copy of the projector manual.

Joe, I did exactly what you suggest some years ago on a Eumig lens from an 824. I smoothed off what was left from the broken "pip" with a file, then drilled a small hole where the centre of it had been, being careful not to let swarf enter the lens barrel, tapped the hole and fitted a NYLON screw. This was easily cut to length and shaped to match the original pip. (If I remember right, I only needed to clean the end, the screw diameter ran happily in the adjuster track). The only thing to watch was not to let the screw protrude into the barrel, otherwise it would inhibit the zoom adjustment.

Where the pin broke off there is a small crater so there may not be enough of the barrel to drill. Right now I simply do not have the tiny tools for such a job. I am hoping to obtain another lens just in case. Where does one obtain small nylon screws?

In my case , from my scrap box. I haven't had call to buy any for years, but if you Google "Nylon bolts" you should come up with hundreds of sources.... my first "click" today produced this

Clever thing, Google... produces lots of answers to lots of problems!

Joe

If you have an Ace Hardware store near you they sell all kinds of small screws, erings, bushing nylon screws etc. They have a section of trays that pull out and are full of small parts. I have found many parts for the projectors I fix. If there isn't an Ace hardware store near you , tell me the size and I will get a couple and mail them to you.

Pat,
I got a quote on overhauling and repairing the Eumig which was almost what I paid for it! Its not likely that the lens can be repaired by me or the repairman. So, it goes back to the seller this week for a full refund. The refund will go towards the overhaul and repair of my Elmo ST 1200 HD and a deposit is being made on a overhauled Sankyo Stereo 800. I had to purchase the manual and Leader Trimmer for the Eumig. It didn't come with the tool to remove the sound head pressure pad for cleaning which was another problem. And as stated in another thread, the speed was way off. I liked the mixer panel, but I am not equipped to deal with so many issues. I am going to stick with my Elmo and the Sankyo when I get it. The fact that Eumig made the lens housing and its focusing pin out of plastic really annoyed me. The deal breaker was unsteady picture and/or loop loss near the end of some test prints due to the side by side reel design.
