Has anyone got a Bolex 715 Super 8 sound projector they'd like to sell. Email smcconway @ hotmail. com but without the spaces.

Simon
I know it's a stupid question, but do you really want a 715?

I am sure that many members are aware that I am a nut for collecting projectors and films and included in my collection is a Bolex 715.

Simon has been in touch to say that he wants the Bolex to complete that part of his range, and also to compare it with Eumigs.

The Eumig models 903/905/906/907/908/910/912/926 all feature Eumig's determination to foster the concentric spool design onto projector owners.

This determination is reflected in the Bolex 715, however, for some obscure reason a hinging panel hides the spools and makes their handling even more of a fiddly operation.

Having said that, it works very well, and as I explained recently mine was good value at £30.

Well done, Mark.
Over to you, Simon.
If you go for it, make sure it's complete with the centre for the feed spool. This is removed in order to fit the take-up spool, and then replaced to fit on the feed spool.

Just looking I don`t think these will taken the usual Eumig lens, as you can get a nice 12.5mm 1.2 etc would usually go in these and Eumigs with the normal twisty thread.

Best Mark.

Had the Bolex 715 when they came out and loved it. It had a couple of refinements over the Eumig 910GL version including a much sturdier solid carry handle. Sound quality was excellent and a powerful output from the amplifier ta boot. Eventually I parted with mine in the late 70’s upgrading but I fairly recently learned the guy who purchased it is still using it and runs perfectly after some 35 years use. I think we can call that an endorsement. [Cool]

Are they a particular lens Lee or can you move one over from the straight forward machine.

I`m sure I saw a lens for one for sale was different, thinner and the levelling system gone.

Best Mark.

Thank you for your replies. Never received your message, Mark, but thanks anyway. The one on Ebay is what I'm after, but was hoping to pay less for what will be a machine just to "play around" with.

Si. This is the lens you will need and just to look at here is one on fleabay. 360718829602 NOTE IT IS BROKEN.
Eumig also offered a specialist short throw fixed lens for the 900 range which was produced for the trade demo team. I have a couple of these and quite a collectors item for Oimig fans.

The one on ebay looks very nice but looking at some pics via google on this model they took away the front/top sprocket.

Seems a bit of a backwards step, so I`d say an older model would be a better bet really.

Are you going to Farnsworth Simon, if theres much there not a bad spot to pick one up.

Seems the achilees heel on these is the drive disc and occasionally the amps, and also some alloy corrosion so around the £30 sounds about right really.

Best Mark

Managed to get a 715 from eBay which arrived today. Excellent condition and still with the original box and sound oscilloscope read out graph. First signs are an exceptionally steady and bright picture with superb sound to match. It is a Eumig S912 underneath a different side cover. Very impressed though!
