Hi Lydia, and welcome.

Not so much clear leader, but there is always plenty of white leader available on Ebay.

Good hunting!

This might sound like sacrilege........but in the past I have made my own, std and super from bad quality very very faded old films.I also used edited films of my own home movies shot 40+ years ago when I decided to have them digitised to save money on converting charges. Just get the old film and soak in a bleach and water mixture, 70% bleach and 30% water and leave overnight then wash in clear water.I must have over 400 feet of clear leader in both gauges.

Could unused film from super 8 catridges be used as a clear film leader? I`m assuming that may be a bad idea since the film would never have been chemically developed.

Living in Japan, the price that local dealers charge for leader is outrageous. So I ordered it directly from Kodak. You can order a thousand foot roll of white acetate leader directly from Kodak. It`s about $55 USD.

Here`s a PDF catalog from last year from Kodak.

Hello Lydia

I have checked my film spares and have the following spools of clear super 8 leader, originally purchased some years ago from Larry at LGP:

130ft clear with magnetic sound stripes £8 each (x 2)

200ft clear silent (no stripes) £10 (x 1)

Please send me a PM message if you would like to buy any or all of these leaders - postage will cost extra depending on the weight and size of the packet.

Kevin

If not Kevin, I will. Leader is always something I cannot have enough of. 😊😊

Anything left over after Lydia takes her pick, I am equally grateful for thanks.

Actually, about the leader.. Is a white leader is thicker / harder than a clear one ? I end up chewing about 4-6 feet each time i change rool. At some point i will miss the whole movie...

Also, do you glue it the to film stock or we can only tape it ?

thanks

Jean, it depends on the kind of stock. You cannot glue polyester leader (as any polyester stock) but you can when it's an acetate base.
