The Mail Goes Through - Walton A.263 - 200ft - Super 8 sound - Black & white.

An amusing story of two reckless villains who try to rob a Royal Mail train of its gold, but good triumphs over evil, and the mail goes through. The villains land up with some Golden Syrup!

An early Walton release of an amateur cartoon made in 1947 by Lance Wright which was a pseudonym for an architectural artist named Lawrence Wright who taught himself animation in his spare time. His first films were on 9.5mm. It is thought that this was his last animated film.

The animation is quite good with some amusing jokes involving the railway steam locomotive. The sound track is good but the print has variable exposure, possibly in the Walton printing. However it's a full 200ft spool.

It can be viewed on the BFI Player.
