My old Cine-Xenon suffers from a loose connection between the aperture setting ring and the blades mechanism inside...there is about a 1/2-stop of play, making it hard to accurately set aperture. Anyone have any experience/documentation on disassembling this lens, or advice on correct forum to pose this question? (photo to identify lens):

I think this was probably the right place John. I have to say what a nice looking lens. They dont make them like that anymore. German engineering at it's best.

John

Disassembly is tricky, but re-assembly requires special tools and colimation (sp). There are some excellent camera repair places in NY as there are out here in Hollywood/Los Angeles. If you were in LA, I'd suggest Century Optics or a couple of other guys I've worked with. Possibly someone at Panavision New York in the service department can recommend someone in your area. I don't know, but doubt this is just a screw tightening adjustment. Most cases require replacement of the iris blades and if the lens is in otherwise good condition, it's probably worth it.
